Little LiL has embarked on the Canine Conditioning Academy foundation program with myself today.
LiL had an arthroscopy on her left elbow last summer and also has low grade patella luxation (a slipping knee cap) in her left hind. Although, not currently lame her owner had noticed her slowing up and becoming a little reluctant to go too far on her walks. We treated her a couple of weeks ago and found her to be relatively comfortable but it was clear she had altered her posture to compensate for the areas of weakness, resulting in her core becoming weak.
The conditioning program is perfect in these circumstances, when an animal has recovered from a surgery or musculoskeletal problem but is left with compensatory weakness as a result.
She did so well having the first set of exercises introduced and I will be back next week to introduce the rest. Then LiL and her owner will start 6 weeks of regular conditioning to return her to optimum strength and function
